In The Notebook: Who impressed us this week?

In The Notebook is back and our first runner came out this week. Historic Note was touched off in the final stages of the race, and remains a big Godolphin contender. He’ll get another win soon enough. We have five more additions, and ones to make sure you know before the Royal meeting.

Batts Rock (Second in a 1m4f handicap at Ascot on Saturday)

The four-year-old returned from almost a year away from the track and ran excellently to finish second. He was unlucky in running when getting hampered and still managed to run on well, he should improve from that and remains on a nice handicap mark.

Khafoo Shememi (Fifth in a 1m handicap at Ascot on Friday)

This performance was really poor from this exciting three-year-old who has all the potential to compete in pattern company throughout the year. He was going okay through the race before fading at the end. He’ll win races this year, and may be lowered onto a very good mark.

George William could be a big player in the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot next month

George William (Second in the Victoria Cup at Ascot on Saturday)

One we fancied in our preview of the race, and a result that was very close to coming in. He was hugely unlucky in running, and eas forced to weave his way to finally go forward. He didn’t manage to get his head in front after finding a gap. He likes Ascot, should be much better over a mile and has to have a big chance in the Royal Hunt Cup at the Royal meeting.

Declarationofpeace (Won a 5f maiden at Dundalk on Wednesday)

In what was a very easy win this Ballydoyle two-year-old looked absolutely fantastic. He strode clear without really trying, and he looks like one that ought to play a leading role at Royal Ascot. He’s big and powerful and there’s plenty to come from him.

Breeze (Fourth in a 1m maiden at the Curragh)

A confusing and frustrating run from this exciting prospect. With two out he looked like he was the best horse in the race, but as he was asked for a little more he did nothing. He’s still learning and should improve for that, but he cruised up and showed a lot of natural speed. He’s another who will win his fair share of races.
