With six days until Royal Ascot, our man James Stevens gives you what four horse he will be backing ahead of the biggest flat meeting in the UK.
2:00 Haydock – Ottonian (6/4)
After an impressive victory at Thirsk on debut, I would expect another big performance from Godolphin colt Ottonian. He won very well that day and should step-up from that effort, and is bred to perform beyond this level.
3:30 Haydock – Mutarabby (6/4)
One that has caught the eye and entered in the notebook after multiple good efforts in maiden company. He was last seen losing to Hold Sway, and has gone close without striking in all visits to the track. In what doesn’t look too strong a race, he should have a strong chance.
3:30 Haydock – Hugin (9/2)
He stepped up very well after an encouraging debut in Ireland. He powered clear at Newcastle, indicating he deserves his place in higher grade races. He is bred very well and if he repeats the Newcastle performance he should run a good race.
8:10 Kempton – Parlance (7/1)
Parlance is another who powered clear in maiden company last time out and warrents plenty of respect in this handicap. He beat a horse called Indian Blessing that day, who has since run well in listed company. To win so impressively against a good horse means he certainly deserves to run in this race.
